Biking in Argentina is like
biking a continent. Being
the eight largest country in the world, Argentina
offers all climate zones and landscapes you’ve
been dreaming of. Exploring
the gaucho country by mountain bike
is a cultural and sports challenge and one
of the last big adventures: At a pleasant
rhythm you will find time to meet local people,
learn about nature phenomena and get to know
the Argentine way of life, this unique mixture
of Spanish, Italian and indigenous cultures.
Depending on tour and level you choose you
will bike between 3 and 8 hours a day, explore
wide scenic roads such as adventurous single
trails or breathtaking down
hills. On the mountain bike you won’t
miss any details of your trip,
because you go at your personal pace and visit
places where mass tourism doesn’t get
to. It’s a sustainable
and ecological way of exploring
the beauties, wonders and lovely people of
this South American country.
General Information
On your tailor-made mountain bike
adventure you will be assisted by
a professional multilingual guide and in some
areas by additional local guides. All our
trips are accompanied by support vehicles
that transport luggage, fresh water and power
food. Whoever gets tired of cycling
can get a ride on the support vehicle. We
carry along the main repairing gear and help
with technical problems. Accommodations are
in the best hotels on the spot. We can also
organize camp nights if wished. The trips
always include full board sometimes with lunch
picnics far away from civilization. For personal
comfort, we recommend each guest to take along
his/her own mountain bike.
Patagonia
On this at the max 3 week trip starting and
ending in Buenos Aires, we explore the diversity
of the southern end of the continent: Lovely
mountain bike rides through the lake area
and the valdivian forests, windy roads along
the fjords, wild down hills from volcanoes,
historical kilometers on the Carretera Austral
and endless roads into the pampas. Along the
trip we also get a lot of information about
the Mapuche and Tehuelche (natives of Patagonia),
we swim in beautiful hot springs and taste
the exquisite local cuisine, especially the
tender Argentine barbecue
lambs and the varieties of the Chilean seafood.
Our Patagonia trips are recommended
for the months from November to March. We
pedal between 40 and 120 k a day with up to
2000 meters of altitude. It’s a trip
for bikers with moderate to good physical
conditions. Luggage is carried by a bus or
4x4.
Mendoza - Salta
This up to 18 day trip starting in Mendoza
and ending in Salta is called Bike
and Wine. It’s the ideal combination
of sports and relaxing, usually biking
half a day and enjoying a cultural program
the resting time. The mountain biking takes
place along scenic gravel roads at the foot
of the Andes with beautiful
views into the snowy mountains and over the
vineyards of Argentina. We
visit old traditional bodegas such as small
family businesses where we can taste the best
drops of the area. Hikes, river rafting, horse
riding, spa, gold mines and indigenous museums
and ruins complete the program, while deep
canyons, wild rivers, vast deserts, cactus
forests and the amazing colors of the rocks
offer a wide range of backgrounds for our
adventures. The ideal time
of the year is October to April. We bike
between 30 and 60 k a day; it’s not
necessary to have extremely good physical
condition.
Misiones
In the subtropical province of Argentina,
we explore on 3 up to 10 day trips the kingdom
of the jungle. Starting and ending points
can be Posadas or Iguazú. On small
red soiled paths, we enter into the habitat
of the jaguar, following the steps of the
Guaraníes (natives of Misiones). The
hilly landscapes offer us many ups and downs.
Afterwards we enjoy cool bathes in the crystal
clear creeks, canoe adventures down hidden
rivers and fresh showers under the natural
waterfalls. We also get to know the main activities
of the colonists such as planting tobacco,
yerba mate and tea. The actual indigenous
settlements, Jesuit ruins from the 18th century
and the European immigration from the past
century complete the cultural program. Of
course, the world famous Iguazúfalls won’t be missing.
This province offers the highest density of
nature reserves which are
perfect to visit by mountain bike
from March to November. We bike
between 30 and 60 k a day; it’s not
necessary to have extremely good physical
condition.
